Brad Dell is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at ISU, where he teaches classes in directing, acting, musical theatre, and script analysis. Since 2005, Brad has directed nearly twenty plays, musicals, and operas at ISU. Brad was awarded the 2012 “Local Treasure” award from the Ames, IA Community Arts Council. From 1997-2007, Brad served in a number of capacities including Assistant Producer and Artistic Director of Apple Hill Playhouse in Delmont, Pennsylvania, where he directed many productions. Brad is intensely involved with and has earned numerous awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, for which he is the Vice-Chair of Region V of KCACTF. Brad is the vice president of Story Theatre Company in Ames. He has directed and acted in numerous productions for StageWest Theater Company of which he is the Artistic Advisor. Brad has also worked as an actor, director, designer, and educator with other companies and Universities throughout the country. Some of his recent directing highlights have included Next to Normal, Fiddler on the Roof, Rent, Next Fall, Candide, Sweeney Todd, Sense and Sensibility (with RTI), and The History Boys. Brad holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from Western Illinois University.
