Be A Beacon Of Hope - The Ghostlight Project
On January 19, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in each time zone across the country, members of the theater community - from Broadway to regional theaters to high schools and colleges and community theaters - will come together to launch The Ghostlight Project. The Repertory Theatre of Iowa will host a Ghostlight gathering in the courtyard of the Des Moines Social Club open to any theatre and/or community member.
Gathering outside of theaters on the eve of the Presidential Inauguration, people will join in a collective, simultaneous action, together creating “light” for challenging times ahead. Inspired by the tradition of leaving a "ghost light" on in a darkened theater, artists and communities will make or renew a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone--regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Please bring a light with you, but make sure it is NOT lit when you enter the courtyard. What kind of light, you ask? Stick with a clear, white light such as a cell phone, flashlights, lantern, or whatever you create. This event will last until about 6:00 PM. There is no cost but your time and commitment to the values above. Join us and shine a light for our future.

August: Osage County! A vanished father. A scathingly acidic, pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady secrets. As winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, this instant classic was named by Onstageblog as the best play of the 21st Century. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. This unflinchingly, and uproariously funny play exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.

“Packed with unforgettable characters and dozens of quotable lines, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is a tensely satisfying comedy, interspersed with remarkable evocations on the cruelties and (occasional) kindnesses of family life.” —NY Sun
